Ashley Meza is a Senior Associate Attorney at the Colwell Law Group, LLC. Her focus is exclusively on family and matrimonial law, helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most personal and challenging legal matters. Whether she is guiding a client through a divorce, advocating for a parent in a custody dispute, or assisting a family through an adoption, Ashley understands that every case carries significant emotional and financial implications. “My goal is to not only provide strong legal representation for my clients, but to provide trusted guidance that empowers my clients to make informed decisions and move forward with confidence”.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Meza served for approximately five (5) years as an Assistant District Attorney in both Montgomery and Saratoga County, where she represented victims and litigated complex cases involving domestic violence, child sexual abuse, and related criminal matters. That experience has provided extensive courtroom experience, strengthened advocacy and negotiation skills, and reinforced the importance of remaining composed and strategic in high-conflict situations. Most importantly, it demonstrated that effective representation begins with listening, understanding each client’s unique circumstances, and earning their trust.
As a member of the Colwell Law Group, Ms. Meza represent clients in a wide range of family and matrimonial matters, including divorce and matrimonial actions, child custody, child support, paternity proceedings, adoptions, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, partition actions, Child Protective Services (CPS) matters, and family offense proceedings. “Every client comes to me with a different story, and I believe every legal strategy should reflect that. I take the time to understand my clients’ priorities and develop practical solutions that protect what matters most to them”.
One of the principles that defines her practice is communication. Ashley believe clients deserve to understand the legal process, their rights, and the options available to them at every stage of their case. She makes it a priority to be accessible, responsive, and candid, ensuring my clients always know where their case stands. Ashley also believe in setting realistic goals and expectations from the outset. Honest advice, even when difficult, allows my clients to make sound decisions and positions them for the best possible outcome.
Ashley earned her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School in 2018 and is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey. Ashley is also a proud member of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association, where she remains committed to professional development and serving the legal community.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, and playing and watching sports.
Whether you are facing a difficult family dispute or planning for the future, Ashley is committed to providing practical guidance, honest advice, and dedicated advocacy every step of the way. “I understand the trust my clients place in me, and I work tirelessly to help them achieve meaningful resolutions while protecting what matters most”.
