Alex Blake is an Associate Attorney at The Colwell Law Group, LLC, where he focuses on family law matters with a compassionate, client-centered approach. With a diverse legal background spanning family law, civil litigation, and environmental law, he brings over three years of professional legal experience to guiding clients through some of life’s most challenging transitions. Alex is dedicated to understanding each client’s unique circumstances and working tirelessly to achieve outcomes that protect their interests and their families.
Alex has experience representing clients across diverse practice areas. He currently focuses on family law at Colwell Law, where he handles divorces, custody disputes, and child support matters from inception through trial. Prior to joining Colwell Law, he gained valuable litigation experience at two firms, including a large Buffalo-based firm, where he handled civil litigation, insurance defense, and environmental law matters. This broad foundation enables him to approach family law cases with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective courtroom advocacy.
He is a member of the Family Law Section and Matrimonial Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Alex received a B.A. in History and Philosophy from St Lawrence University, a M.A. Ed in Education from McKendree University and ultimately his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law where he was also awarded the CALI Award for Highest Grade in Mediation and served on the Executive Board as the Executive Editor of The Journal of Global Rights ad Organization.
Before entering law school, Alex served as the head springboard diving coach for a top-ranked NCAA program, where he developed leadership skills and a dedication to mentoring others toward success. He brings this same commitment to excellence and client development to his legal practice. Outside the office, Alex enjoys golfing, fishing, attending concerts, and spending time outdoors.
